10/26/2021
The start of production of a completely new electric car for BMW – the i4 sedan – was given at the end of last week. The electric car began to be assembled at a plant in Munich, where the brand’s headquarters are located.
Deliveries of the first vehicles to European markets are expected to begin in the coming weeks. It is known that the i4 is equipped with a battery with a capacity of 83.9 kilowatt-hours, the power reserve without recharging is up to 590 km, and the power plant with two electric motors produces power of 530 hp. and accelerates the car to 100 km/h in about 4 seconds. Modifications with one electric motor and more modest characteristics will soon be available.
BMW notes that the integration of the i4 into the assembly lines was painless for the company – there was no need to stop production, because Almost all production processes are carried out on existing equipment. Also, the company considers the i4 a big step towards the electrification of the Bavarian company’s model range – by 2023, BMW plans to increase the number of electrified cars leaving the assembly line in Munich to at least half of the total output.
