457,830 new cars found buyers in Taiwan in 2024, a modest -4% year-on-year decline from last year’s particularly strong volume (the highest in 18 years). Imported vehicles account for 220,503 units or 48.2% of the market versus 47% in 2023. The undisputed leader remains Toyota (-3.2%) with a share of 27.3%, which is a slight improvement compared to last year. Lexus (-5.1%) overtook Honda (-11.9%) for second place, with Mercedes (+7.6%) and Hyundai (+2.3%) rounding out the top five with solid performances. BMW (+14.7%) rose four places to 6th place, and CMC (+1%) moved up to 7th place. MG (+13.3%), Tesla (+16.1%) and Mazda (+7.1%) also shine. Note. In February, MG rose to a record third place.

Toyota Corolla Cross (-9.7%) ranks first for four years in a row, but its market share declines from 7.8% to 7.4%. That’s still well ahead of second place Toyota Town Ace (+20.6%), which scored its first monthly win in August and repeated in September. The Toyota RAV4 (+10.2%) remains in third place, ahead of the Toyota Yaris Cross (+270.6%), which finished its first full year of sales in an outstanding 4th place. Honda CR-V (-21.9%) is the best of the rest, but free-falls from 2nd to 5th place. None of the additional Top 10 models are positive. The Luxgen n7 ranked 15th and was the best-selling electric vehicle in the country in April, May, July and October. Launched in November to replace Veryca, CMC J Space was already in sixth place in December and ends the year in 50th place.
