China imports March 2024: Lexus (+47.7%), Mini (+16%), Toyota (+14.1%) impress in declining market (-16.5%)

Mini-sales counter the negative trend in March.

Sales of new imported vehicles in China fell -16.5% year-on-year in March to 52,807 units, pushing year-on-year volume down -7.3% to 161,152 units. Lexus (+47.7%) easily repeats the position of the No. 1 brand and catches up with the weak results of last year. Land Rover (-11.6%) moved up two positions to fifth place, ahead of Porsche (-53.1%) and Toyota (+14.1%). Mini (+16%) also shines in eighth place.

As for models, the top 4 is the same as last month and since the beginning of the year. The Lexus ES (+78.5%) sells three times more than the #2 Mercedes GLE (-12.2%). In third place is the Lexus RX (+5740%), bolstered by a dismal March 2023 result, followed by the Mercedes S-Class (+2.6%) in fourth place. Also impressive in the remaining top ten are the Range Rover (+13.6%), BMW 4 Series (+9.1%) and Audi A5 (+4.3%).
