Colombia September 2024: Toyota Corolla Cross back in charge, market up 9.8%


The Toyota Corolla Cross is the best-selling car in Colombia in September.

Colombia’s new car market jumped 9.8% year-on-year in September to 17,144 units. However, September 2023 was -34.7% lower than the year before, meaning the month is the second lowest September in the last 10 years. As a result, the annual figure turns positive and is +0.7% to 135,463. Toyota (+26.4%) regains the first brand position it held since the beginning of the year, with a share of 14.9%. Renault (+0.8%) is weak compared to last year, but manages to remain in 2nd place with 12.5% ​​of the market. Last month’s leader Kia (+50.7%) is still in excellent shape, but has dropped to third place. Mazda (+6.7%) and Chevrolet (-30.8%) are behind fourth and fifth places, respectively. Hyundai (+77.6%) posted the largest year-on-year gain in the top ten, with Volkswagen (+20.1%), Nissan (+14.3%) and Suzuki (+11.8%) also leading the market. BYD (+292%) soars to 11th place.

Toyota Corolla Cross (+113.3%) takes off and returns to first place, a ranking it has maintained since the beginning of the year. The Mazda CX-30 (+4.7%) dropped to third place, and the Kia K3 also dropped one position from last month to third place. Renault Duster (-5%) barely ranks fourth, ahead of Toyota Hilux (+8%) and Kia Picanto (+5.7%). The Nissan Frontier (+92.3%), Toyota Prado (+63.7%) and Ford Escape (+29.8%) performed outstandingly in the remaining top ten.
