Ireland Full Year 2024: Hyundai Tucson sports 7th win in past 9 years, Skoda Octavia up to #2


The Hyundai Tucson is the best-selling car in Ireland for the fourth year in a row.

Having started the year with an impressive +14.9% in January and +25.2% in February, the Irish new car market ends 2024 in the negative, down -1% year on year in 2024 to 121,195 units. Toyota (+6%) remains the most popular automaker in the country and increases its market share by one percentage point to 14.5%. Volkswagen (-2.7%) declines but remains in second place, ahead of Skoda (+19.7%), performing best near the top and seeing its share rise from 8.3% in 2023 to 10.1 % this year. As a result, Hyundai (-3.3%) falls to 4th place. Nissan (+9.4%), Audi (+3.6%) and Kia (+0.1%) also show positive results in the rest of the top 10.

Hyundai Tucson (+0.5%) ranks first for the fourth year in a row and seventh in the last 9 years with a stable share of 4.3%. In second place is the Skoda Octavia (+109%), having more than doubled its sales volume and risen by seven positions compared to last year. As a result, the Kia Sportage (+5.9%) drops to third place, while the Toyota RAV4 (+72.3%) rises eight places to fourth place. The Toyota Yaris Cross (+12.3%) is firmly in fifth place, with the VW Tiguan (+45.7%), Skoda Kodiaq (+34.6%) and Hyundai Kona (+13.8%) also impressive.
