In February, the Kia K3 is second only to the Nissan Versa in sales in Mexico.
The Mexican new passenger car market grew 11.1% year-on-year in February to 113,258 units. This is the highest February volume in 7 years, since February 2017 (117,985). Year to date, the figure is up 14.8% to 225,357. Brand leader Nissan (-5.6%) bucks the positive market, but easily holds the lead with a 16.2% share, followed by Chevrolet (+20.4 %) with a share of 13.3%. Volkswagen (+22%) follows in third place behind Toyota (+31.9%), Kia (+10.3%) and Mazda (+19%), keeping the top 6 unchanged in January and FY2023. Ford (+35.1%) and Suzuki (+28.5%) perform best in the market in the rest of the top 10. China’s Jaecoo, a Chery brand (also known as Chirey in Mexico), appears on the charts for the first time with 59 sales.
In the ranking of models, Nissan Versa (+14.2%) strengthens its position with a share of 6.2%. The new Kia K3 moves up two more positions to a record 2nd place, ahead of the Chevrolet Aveo (-10.1%) and Nissan NP300 (-31.6%). The MG 5 (+4.1%) remains in 5th place behind the VW Virtus (+16.8%) and reaches a record sixth place. The Chevrolet S10 Max (+81%) enters the top 10 for the first time in eighth place, while the Nissan Kicks (+26.4%) is at its highest level since December 2022. Also pay attention to the Mazda CX-30 (+354.4%). soars to #11.
