New car sales in the UAE rose 10.6% year-on-year in the first half of 2024 to 145,671 units. Toyota (-0.2%) is not benefiting from the market growth and sees its share fall from 28% to 25.3%. Nissan, on the other hand, grew 14.5% to 16.1% of the market, compared to 15.6% in the same period in 2023. Mitsubishi (+25.3%) and MG (+14.9%) are even more dynamic, while Kia (+19%) rounds out the top five in strong fashion. Below that, Ford (+84.6%), Land Rover (+49.3%) and Suzuki (+17.9%) are doing well. Now, breaking down the data by brand, Mercedes finds itself in 11th place with a share of 2.7%, as does Tesla in 12th place.
In terms of models, Nissan still places the Sunny (-2%) and Patrol (+4.5%) at the top of the charts, with the Toyota Hilux (-2.6%) and Land Cruiser (-24.3%) repeating the order of H1 2023 and FY2023. The Toyota Camry HEV (+351.1%) soars to 6th place, ahead of the Toyota Yaris Sedan (+90.9%), Nissan X-Trail (+26.3%), Land Rover Defender (+87.7%) and Toyota Fortuner (+46.3%). The Tesla Model 3 is 13th, while the Model Y is 23rd.
