Vietnam March 2024: Mitsubishi Xforce lands directly at #3

The Mitsubishi Xforce became an instant blockbuster in Vietnam.

According to local association VAMA, the Vietnamese new car market fell -9.2% year-on-year in March to 27,289 sales, resulting in a year-to-date decline of -17.4% to 58,165. This is a much better result. than -49.5% last month. Adding Hyundai data reported separately from VAMA, the monthly figure rises to 31,831 (-8.8%) and 68,309 year-to-date (-18.9%).

In the manufacturer rankings, Hyundai (-21.3%) regains the top spot it held since the beginning of the year, behind Thaco-Kia (-22.9%), with just 200 units sold. Toyota (-31.7%) moved up three positions again in February, but worse than last year. Ford (-5.2%) and Mitsubishi (-5.9%) manage to contain their losses, but Honda (+90.2%) shrugs off the market negativity, ranking sixth. Suzuki (+8.2%) and Isuzu (+1.4%) are also impressive.

The Mitsubishi Xpander (-30.9%) is back in pole position despite a terrible fall, but still ranks second year-to-date. Last month’s leader Ford Ranger (+4%) drops to second place, but maintains its leadership since the beginning of the year. The result of the month was the new Mitsubishi Xforce, which took third place with a market share of 4.2%. Honda City (+28.1%) and HR-V (+125.2%) perform fantastically in the rest of the top 10.
