Toyota has fully revealed the bZ4x electric crossover

02.11.2021

The bZ4x was first shown to the public in concept form earlier at the Shanghai Motor Show. Now Toyota has presented a production version of the crossover, deliveries of which will start next year.

Externally, the electric car strongly resembles the concept we are familiar with and has the same aggressive lines. However, the main news concerns the technical characteristics of the crossover.

Toyota indicated that the figures given are typical for the Japanese market. Versions for the USA and Europe may differ in some respects – information about them will be provided separately.

Now to what we know today. The bZ4x is equipped with a 71.4 kilowatt-hour battery. The range on a single charge is about 500 km for the front-wheel drive version and 460 km for the all-wheel drive version. The first will be equipped with a 150-kW motor on the front axle, and the second will receive two 80-kW motors on each axle. Fast charging power is limited to 150 kW, which will charge the battery from zero to 80% in half an hour.

In addition, Toyota will equip the bZ4x with a number of interesting options. For example, an optional roof with built-in solar panels will generate enough energy in a year to drive 1,800 km. Or a steering wheel in the form of a steering wheel (yes, exactly like the Tesla Model S Plaid) with an addition in the form of electronic control without a mechanical connection between the steering wheel itself and the wheels. At the same time, the system will be able to automatically change the gear ratio, reducing or increasing the “sharpness” of the steering depending on the conditions.
