BTCC: Unlucky qualifying for Rob Austin Racing Audi drivers at Oulton Park

The Rob Austin Racing team had an unlucky qualifying session today at Oulton Park. Rob Austin an team-mate Hunter Abbott pushed hard with their Audi A4 NGTC cars but were not able to battle for the top spots.

Team-owner and driver Rob Austin will start tomorrow’s British Touring Car Championship race 1 from the middle of the pack. Behind the wheel of his #101 Audi A4 NGTC he qualified in sixteenth place overall setting a personal best time of 1:26.580.

His team-mate Hunter Abbott was further behind. The driver of the #54 Audi A4 NGTC was twenty-fourth fastest in the qualifying session.

Both Rob Austin and Hunter Abbott will be eager to bounce back tomorrow in the three races. The Oulton Park circuit gave Rob Austin Racing great satisfaction last year with a podium and solid Top 5 results.

Pole position went to Jason Plato with a Volkswagen Passat CC from Team BMR. Matt Neal qualified in second place with the works Honda Civic Type-R from Honda Yuasa Racing. Three-time WTCC champion Andy Priaulx was third with his BMW 125i from West Surrey Racing.

The three BTCC races at set for Sunday.
