A very wet Hockenheim circuit played host to the first ever qualifying session in the new Audi TT single-make series. One man will start from pole position in the two races this weekend.
The Audi TT series has a unique qualifying format. Pole position in race 1 is decided by the fastest lap time, pole position in race 2 is decided by the second best time of each driver in the qualifying session.
Nicolaj Møller Madsen dominated the field and will start from P1 in both races. The driver of the #17 Audi TT was the fasest overall and set the best second fastest lap time too. The Danish racer set a best time of 2:05.270 and a second best time of 2:05.997 enough to secure both pole positions.
For the first Audi TT race, Marc Coleselli (#40 Audi TT) will start from position two. The Top 5 is completed by Joonas Lappalainen (#45 Audi TT) in third, Dennis Marschall (#27 Audi TT) in fourth and Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky (#89 Audi TT) in fifth place.
In the second race, Joonas Lappalainen (#45 Audi TT) will share the front row with pole-man Nicolaj Møller Madsen. Marc Coleselli (#40 Audi TT) will start from position three. (#27 Audi TT) will start from position four. Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky (#89 Audi TT) will start from fifth place.
The first race in the Audi TT series will be held on Saturday. The official Audi Motorsport website will bring a live coverage to the opening round from Hockenheim.
