The Toyota brand was Googled more often than any other automaker in 2021

It became known which car brands were the most popular for online search queries in 2021. Toyota won the global standings, but in Ukraine the first place went to another manufacturer.

The rating of auto brands by frequency of search queries was published by the Australian consulting agency Compare The Market based on Google Trends data for 154 countries. According to the study, the most common searches for Internet users in 2021 were Toyota products. The Japanese brand turned out to be the most popular in 47 countries, including Japan itself.

The authors of the study suggested that the reason for Toyota’s success was the appearance of the Land Cruiser 300 and Corolla Cross, as well as the premiere of the brand’s first mass-produced electric vehicle, the bZ4X crossover.

Second and third places, as in the previous year, were taken by BMW and Mercedes-Benz. It is also interesting that Tesla made it into the top five for the first time since Compare The Market began conducting similar studies. The American electric vehicle manufacturer has become the most searched for product in China, Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong and Israel. At the same time, users from Ukraine most often searched for Renault.

Agency experts also noted that Audi and Hyundai were Googled more often in 2021 than in 2020. Suzuki, which has not been among the most popular search terms in the world since 2018, has again come out on top in several countries. Brands such as Ford, Volvo, Nissan and Peugeot, on the contrary, have become less popular online. And Volkswagen, Mitsubishi, Alfa Romeo and Daewoo failed to take first place in any of the countries analyzed.
